It was a vibrant night at tonights first ever Friends of Ilford County High School quiz night. Around 150 players signed up including first timers, seasoned pros, teachers, governors and lots of the boys. Our quiz master was fantastic with questions for both adults and children. There were rounds on music, films, ICHS, the local area and gaming to name a few. If you happened to know when Fornite was created you were in luck as this was one of the questions that delighted the boys!
Lots of delicious food and drink was on offer. Thanks to the many parents and carers who donated to the event. Our army of volunteers were once again on hand to help out. Next time our advertising should include advice against eating dinner before coming as many people went home having over indulged and loosening their belts!
Much to the disappointment of the teachers and governors they didn’t win. Table 1 cruised to victory, our congratulations to them all. Some swatting up to do ready for next year for the rest of us…
The raffle was a massive success with prizes including hampers, tickets to Leeds castle, Adventure island, the Odeon cinema, Moby Dick golf, David Lloyd passes, London Transport Museum, Nuffield health, Virgin active, Bletchly Park, Leyton Orient, Tesco vouchers, SixtySix Hairdressers, Nandos, Cakes n Bakes, Yosi’s Kitchen and so so many more. Full thanks to all the organisations that donated to us will be on our ‘Friends and Sponsors’ page shortly.
The burning questions is how much did we raise? Our treasurer, Maria will be counting all the income this weekend. We hope to post a total early next week. Please keep an eye out. We are hoping to buy benches for the football/cricket field with our fundraising efforts so that both the boys and parents can sit comfortably, without getting wet bums when watching competitive and inter-house games. This was something the students themselves expressed a need for. Hopefully when they arrive we should have some contented boys.
Thank you once again to everyone who gave their time, energy, effort and most importantly money towards this wonderful evening.
